Events not to be missed for an unforgettable holiday

The area of Città di Castello is quite lively from an artistic and cultural point of view: apart from the numerous religious commemorations, at the folklore festivals that are organised periodically in the streets and squares every year, this city becomes the theatre of manifestations, shows and events of an international character.

Among the most characteristic and interesting events we would like to recall the following:

Market exhibition of old style furniture - April/May
Everything that you need for your home reproduced in the style of the past by the masterful hands of artisans from the Upper Tiber Valley .

Retrò - the 3rd Sunday of every month
Market exhibition of antiques and second-hand goods, with lots of stalls where you can hunt out some bargains.

Festival Nazioni - August/September
Classical concerts in the theatre, curchs of Città di Castello. The Festival delle Nazioni playing a high quality role in the most prestigious Italian and European arenas of cultural events.

National horse show - September
One of the most important events of its kind in Italy. Is one of the oldest equestrian events and more important event of Italy.
In 1967 the Show of Horse became what it is today, namely an indispensable rendez vous in the panorama of events in Umbria.
Within the program: review of selected breeds, international competition of pure Arab blood, competition at hurdles, free jumping competition, equishow at night, baptism of ponies and equestrian competitions for children. Among the novelties of this edition the European Championship of Monta by Labour.
The exhibition also includes an exhibition of equipment and promotion of horse racing and an exhibition of taste which features the very finest Umbrian cuisine.

The days of the Historical Artisan - August
Is one of the most important historical events of the Umbria region. Città di castello is held every year in August to commemorate the daily life of the city of the Middle Age. The city comes alive during the days of the festival of shops noise, taverns everywhere where spoil was prepared local product, wherever it breathes the atmosphere of medieval crafts, strictly faithful to the economic reality of the time or revisited freely.

National Market Exhibition of White Truffle and products from the Forest - November
Shows, exhibitions and above all, sampling of exquisite truffle based products, chestnuts and honey.
Back from 5 to 7 November 2010 in Città di Castello, the National Show Market of the Truffle and Woodland Products, now in its 31st edition.
3 long days devoted to the white truffle, which will be exalted in characters.
Stand of white truffles in Piazza Matteotti, taste workshops, food and wine competitions.

As regards other artistic manifestations that are organised in the areas surrounding Città di Castello, we would like to recall one famous musical event that is not to be missed: The Umbria Jazz Festival, which has been attracting musicians and enthusiasts to Perugia from all over the world since 1973 (Perugia -July).

Umbra Jazz July- Perugia Improvisation, swing and Blue Notes: Back to Umbria in the month of July 2010 all the best jazz music in one of the largest events dedicated to the Afro-American music and beyond!
Music at 360 ° for the event, however, where the jazz confirms its presence as a pivot around which rotates every performance: melancholy rhythms, characterized by that typical sense of nostalgia that characterizes the genre. Umbria Jazz the most important jazz umbrian music festival and one of the most popular in Europe, has its roots in the early '70s: the first edition of the festival is in fact dated 1973.
Since the first edition, the festival has a great success and brings in Umbria, the influx of many visitors.
